McNutt Drive Standoff

(5/10/2019, 1600 hrs) At approximately 9:45 am, APD officers responded to a home in the 1500 block of McNutt Drive to a report of a man sitting in a car, holding a gun to his head. Officers arrived and found the man seated in his car and armed with a handgun. Crisis negotiators responded to the scene to open communications with the man. McNutt Drive was shut down and a perimeter established.

Bank Robbery Suspect Captured

(5/7/2019, 1530 hrs) A few minutes before 1:00 pm, APD patrol officers located and captured Joshua Blake Perry, who was identified as a suspect in a bank robbery that took place less than two hours earlier. Perry was found at a motel in the 1100 block of MacArthur Drive that he checked into around thirty minutes after the robbery.

Culpepper Road Attempted Murder / Suicide

(4/23/2019, 1245 hrs) On April 22, around 2:45 pm, APD officers responded to a report of a shooting at a trailer in the 3000 block of Culpepper Road. When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old man who had a wound on the back of his head, lying near a woman who was not moving. The woman, later identified as Corneisha Davis, 35, had an apparent gunshot wound to the side of her head. Emergency personnel responded quickly and treated the male, who was still responsive, and he was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect Attacks Officer, Tries to Steal Police Car

(4/9/2019, 1700 hrs) At around 3:15 this afternoon, APD Dispatch received a call about a man in the middle of the road, screaming and hitting cars as they passed, at the intersection of Shannon Road and Carl Street. Around the same time, one of the drivers saw two officers working a traffic detail nearby and flagged them down about the man in the road. One of the officers went to the intersection and encountered the suspect, who appeared intoxicated and was screaming obscenities.

Shooting on Monroe Street

(3/20/2019, 1920 hrs) At around 4:55 this afternoon, APD responded to a report of a shooting in the 2900 block of Monroe Street. Officers arrived and learned that a male subject had shot at another male on the parking lot of a business at the corner of Monroe and Kent Ave. A vehicle was hit during the shooting. Both the shooter and the apparent victim had fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. As yet, we have received no information that anyone was hurt in the shooting. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene and conducted their investigation.

Man Charged with Attempted Feticide-For-Hire

(3/8/2019, 0830 hrs) Earlier this week, APD detectives began an investigation into a report of an attempted "murder-for-hire" of an unborn child. Detectives received information that Mohammed Abudayeh had attempted to hire another man to attack Abudayeh's girlfriend with the intent of killing her unborn baby. During the investigation, detectives obtained credible information that the attack was to be staged as a robbery or something similar, and that the attack should concentrate on her stomach area.

Man Charged with Rape of Juvenile from 2017

(3/7/2019, 1130 hrs) In February, APD received a report of a juvenile that was raped on multiple occasions in 2017. Detectives working the case were able to establish that the three incidents took place when the victim was 13, and were committed by the same individual. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Dmarcus Tucker, 24, who was located and taken into custody on March 4. Following his arrest, he attempted to run away from the transporting officer when they arrived at the jail.

Burglar Caught in Attic

(March 7, 1050 hrs) On March 4, around 8:15 pm, APD officers responded to a burglary-in-progress of a vehicle in the 300 block of Florence Ave. When officers arrived on scene, the suspect was no longer in the vehicle, having stolen a pair of shoes from the car and fled on foot. The complainant reported being in her home when she saw a hand coming through the dog door. She kicked at the hand and the man attached to it then ran to her car and got in as she called the police.
