(7/14/2019, 0900 hrs) On July 6, at around 10 pm, APD officers responded to a report of a large fight at a car wash in the 1700 block of Metro Drive. When officers arrived, they learned that during the fight one of the parties drew a gun and fired several rounds. Several shell casings were located at the scene.

Detectives were called to the scene and obtained surveillance video from the parking lot. On the video, a male subject in a yellow shirt is seen firing a gun several times toward a crowd of people. Fortunately, no one was injured. On July 11, still photos were pulled from the surveillance video and released to Crime Stoppers to ask for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.

Later that day, APD detectives received multiple tips identifying the shooter as D'Angelo Washington. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Washington for Illegal Use of a Weapon, and Washington was located and arrested later the same day.

"This is the kind of success that comes from law enforcement partnering with our community," said Chief Jerrod King. "I want to thank all of our citizens who contacted our department or Crime Stoppers to provide information to help solve this case. We in law enforcement can't solve crimes by ourselves and we rely on a a population who cares about their city and community to help us."

Washington was charged with Illegal Use of a Weapon and was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
