Three Suspects Arrested for 32 Burglaries, One Still Sought

(8/22/2019, 1400 hrs) Three suspects have been arrested and booked in connection with 32 vehicle burglaries that occurred last weekend. On Sunday, August 18, APD received calls early in the morning reporting burglaries of 25 vehicles at Pecan Grove Apartments and seven at Walden Point Apartments.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to both locations to investigate and search for forensic evidence. One witness from Walden Point Apartments told detectives he saw the four male suspects who committed the burglaries, explaining they fled the scene in a black Honda when they saw him. On August 21, the Honda — which was recognizable due to pre-existing damage — was spotted and the license plate number was recorded and identified. The identification of the vehicle led Detectives to contact Pineville Police Detectives, due to similar vehicle burglaries in the Pineville area over the previous months, and a PPD Detective responded that afternoon to conduct an investigation into those crimes.

The information on the car led Detectives to the residence of Kennedy Ryan Green in the 5100 block of Third Street. Kennedy Green was not found at the house at that time, however Detectives found two 17-year-old male juveniles hiding inside, with a handgun nearby. Cartier Green, 19, was also inside, not hiding. All three fit the descriptions of the suspects from the burglaries at Pecan Grove and Walden Point, and they were brought to APD Headquarters to be interviewed.

Detectives from Juvenile Crimes were called to assist with interviewing the minors. Investigators were able to obtain permission to look in the phones the suspects had, and found evidence on the phones linking them to the 32 burglaries, as well as other recent burglaries in Pineville. All three were charged with 32 counts Simple Burglary of a vehicle, as well as additional burglary charges from Pineville PD.

“This is a fine example of great investigative work, combined with cooperation from vigilant citizens and assistance from a fellow law enforcement agency,” said Alexandria Police Chief Jerrod King. “Our Property Crimes Detectives have been working all week to identify the suspects in last weekend’s burglaries, and have been regularly communicating with Pineville PD Detectives on similar cases in their jurisdiction. The support we receive regularly from fellow agencies in our area cannot be overstated.

“I want to personally commend and thank Detectives Rodney and Dryden from Property Crimes, Detective Howard from Juvenile Crimes, and Detective Smith from Pineville PD for all the hard work and long hours you put into this case. Each of you is a fine example of what a committed, professional law enforcement officer should be,” King said.

Kennedy Green was identified as the fourth suspect in the burglaries, and Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest for 32 counts of Simple Burglary of a vehicle. Green also has three existing warrants through the Alexandria City Court for Contempt of Court, and one through the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office for Contempt of Court. He was arrested by APD in October, 2018, for numerous vehicles burglaries.

If you see Kennedy Green or have information on his whereabouts, please contact the APD Detective Division at (318) 441-6416, or after hours call Dispatch at (318) 449-5099. Citizens are advised to use caution as one of the items stolen the previous weekend was a Glock handgun, so Green may be armed.
