Man Caught with Forged Checks, Stolen Property

On October 11, at around 8 pm, an APD officer who was working a security detail at a local grocery store was informed by the manager that a customer was attempting to pass a stolen check. The officer contacted the subject, identified as Marquis Scott, who was attempting to pay with a check with a woman's name on it, however the store denied the transaction. Scott had also been in the store earlier in the day and paid with a check in a different person's name.

Man Caught Attempting to Cash Forged Check

On October 11, APD officers responded to a local bank on MacArthur Drive to a report of a forgery. Officers arrived and contacted bank employees, who said the male subject was attempting to cash a check, however when the bank called the account holder they were told he did not write the check. The account holder arrived and looked at the check and confirmed that he had not written the check and did not know the person attempting to cash it.

Vehicle Burglar Caught by Observant Employee

On October 8, around 8 am, APD officers responded to a business in the 4600 block of Jackson Street in reference to a vehicle burglary. An employee had witnessed a white male in a black Batman t-shirt taking items out of a car and placing them in the basket of a motorized shopping cart, then rolling away in the cart. The employee approached the suspect about the stolen items, at which point he would not say anything but walked away from the scene in his Batman t-shirt.

Man Charged with Multiple Burglaries in Lower Third Area

In late September, APD responded to several burglary reports in the area of Lower Third Street. Homes on Renee Drive, Avoyelles Drive and River Bend Drive were burglarized and multiple tvs and other items were stolen. Officers and Detectives investigating the cases found other commonalities between the cases beyond their proximity to each other. Using forensic evidence and information from witnesses, a primary suspect was identified as Kennedy Green, and detectives obtained warrants for his arrest.

Shoplifter Arrested with Drugs

On October 7, APD officers responded to a business in the 1800 block of MacArthur Drive to a report of a shoplifter in the store. Officers arrived and watched as the woman took items from a display shelf and placed them inside the backpack she was carrying. Officers contacted her and reclaimed the stolen property and informed the woman she was being arrested. During a search of the woman following her arrest, she was found to be in possession of suspected heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol and clonazepam pills, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Woman Charged for Stealing Co-Worker's Purse

On October 4, APD officers were contacted by a woman working at a local restaurant on MacArthur Drive who reported her purse being stolen. The woman was getting off work for the night when she could not find the purse. A check of the surveillance cameras in the restaurant showed another female employee, identified as Alexces Holmes, taking the purse from where the victim left it. After the suspect was identified, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Holmes. Later, on October 5, detectives located Holmes at the restaurant and placed her under arrest.

Woman Charged with Multiple Burglaries

On August 8 and 9, the Alexandria Police Department responded to two reports of burglaries of homes on Chester Street and Bertie Street. The investigation of the two burglaries resulted in the identification of the suspect as a local woman, Shonda Fisher. Detectives obtained warrants for Fisher's arrest for both of the incidents. On October 5, an APD patrol officer saw Fisher walking near 4th and Jackson Streets and placed her under arrest.

Driver & Passengers Charged with Vehicle Theft & Drugs

On October 3, around 3:30 am, APD officers were conducting burglary patrol when they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Castle Road and Snow White. After conducting the stop, officers found the driver of the vehicle, identified as Demetrice King, and two passengers, identified as Toreon Dotson and Tarnisha Thompson, were in possession of multiple types of narcotics and paraphernalia. The three were in possession of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and heroin, as well as the types of paraphernalia involved in both using and distributing drugs.

Vehicle Burglars Arrested at Restaurant

On September 29, around 8 pm, APD officers responded to a restaurant on South MacArthur Drive to a report of two males attempting to break into cars on the parking lot. When officers arrived, they made contact with a witness who directed them toward the suspects. Thanks to the assistance of alert witnesses at the restaurant, officers were able to locate and arrest the two suspects, who were identified as Dhontori Owens and Jason Kirkland. Both were transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center, where they were charged with Attempted Simple Burglary and Possession of Marijuana.
